I have a successful weight loss story. In 2009, I weighed 178 pounds. By 2012, my weight was down to 166. It was July 2012 when I decided to get serious about cleaning up my diet and exercising. My current weight today (December 25, 2013) is 134 pounds. I am in the best shape of my life. I am in better shape today at 44 than I was at 24 or 34.
There is a family history of diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. Just because certain diseases are in my family does not mean I have to end up with those issues. That was one of the reasons I decided to change my eating habits. Another reason was just to improve my overall physical fitness. I became more active by including strength training and more cardio five days a week. As an Air Force Reserve member, I have to be in top physical fitness condition. I got tired of failing or barely passing the AF physical fitness test. I am happy to say, that I tested a little over a month ago and scored 95%! That was the first time I scored in the 90’s; I must say that was an awesome feeling! I still get excited when I talk about it. That just proved that hard work, dedication and discipline does pay off.
So many people approached me asking what did I do to lose the weight. It was not any ONE or TWO things I did to get healthy, it was a combination of several things. My goals now are to maintain my current weight and to help others reach their weight lost goals. I will be providing nutritional and exercise tips to help others on the journey to healthy living. So, that explains why I decided to do a blog.
This is not a diet but a lifestyle change. This journey is about making the proper food selections; it is about being active. Someone said “diet is a temporary pause from bad behavior.” That is so true; I do not use the word ‘diet’. This is a life style change. My goal is to help others make proper food choices so they could live their very best life.
19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
